  Walked in .... and saw ... meat slicers???? What????? I have had quite a few hot pots in my life ... and I've never seen a place slice their meat to order! Although on the pricy side, I think it's a great option if you want higher quality meat and sickening presentation for the gram!

  So as much as I like this place and they have renovated and have new wonderful service in chinese and English .  It's mostly chinese.  For reservations they text back in chinese and I never understand why they do this in Canada.  This is not China and they should respect that in this country.  They want to live here but don't want to accept our way of life?   Yet again another example of Mainland China's way of saying we don't have to adapt to a country we want to live in and try to make it China themselves .   I'm sorry to have to voice this out but really.  Change your app and your phone /text system and try to accommodate those who don't speak mandarin .  Even chinese Canadians don't always know how to speak your language .  Maybe text a response in English so you won't piss off so many people .   Because of this despite the food being excellent I have to drop it to three stars.  Just for that.  The service was excellent and the food came to about 70/person but your texting / online appointment system sucks.

  Hm - it's fun to make your own sauce and they have all the various ingredients laid out at a condiment bar but at the same time I don't really want to get up to make my own food, nor do I think it's very sanitary. Also the meat tasted less than fresh, although the veggies and broth were okay.
  
  It's fun for a photo op and they do have booths (yay!), but overall I would not waste your money.
  
  You can charge your phone for free here though - they have portable chargers which you can unlock if you have WeChat on your phone.
  
  Around $400 for 4 people (very pricey for the quality).

  My boyfriend and I were supposed to go to the night market, but... It started pouring. Damn. Well, we happened to be in Richmond, so why not go for hotpot?
  
  I had never been to this Liu Yi Shou before, even though I had passed by on some occasions. We ordered the tomato soup and the medium spicy Sichuan style base. A warning: the soups here are super, super spicy. If you're not used to mala (the numbing peppercorn flavor), prepare for a big surprise!
  
  I like how they have so many vegan friendly soup bases and ingredients. The vegetables, tofu, and seitan (gluten) were super fresh and tasty. My boyfriend said that the meat was definitely of a higher quality than AYCE's. As well, the sauce bar and free appies/snacks that  they provide is great.
  
  Left bloated and feeling like I was gonna explode. But it was a great feeling! I only wish it was cheaper, $90 for 2 people is not a great thing for the wallet ; - ;

  Liuyishou Hot Pot in Garden City Road has more than twenty selections of sauce to choose from  in the bar and some pickled vegetable free to take. We selected the $88 hot pot set meal which comes with beef and lamb and some side dishes and a purple rice dessert. The portion is good for 3 adults, or a family with 2 kids. The hot pot soup base has different selections from spicy hot to milder wild mushroom and herb. The place is newly renovated and with sectional seats which give a lot of privacy. The background music is a little bit too loud though. All in all, I think its a good deal for hot pot with spending of $30 per person. Will go back again.
